I'm really pleased to be a brand ambassador for Madeira threads!
You may remember if you've been following for a while that I wrote a blog post (here) about demonstrating on the Madeira stand at the NEC for the Fashion & Embroidery/Sewing for Pleasure show back in 2018. Well I'm now delighted to have joined their Ambassador Team and I hope you'll enjoy seeing what I get up to.
When in-person events are an option again I'd like to do another show but for now I hope you'll follow along with my sewing projects on my Instagram account.
One of the most recent things I've been sewing using Madeira thread is a set of placemats and coasters for my dining table. I used the quilt as you go/flip and stitch method for the piecing. I hadn't tried this technique before but loved it and will definitely be doing more of that at some point. What a fantastic way to use up all of your fabric scraps!
For a bit of detail and to try out some of my threads I added decorative stitching to the coasters and I think the pops of colour look great, the neon green is currently my personal favourite!
If you're interested in making your own fabric coasters I did a step by step tutorial for Design Matters Art & Craft School which you can find for free here.
It's a perfect project for scrap busting and they'd make a lovely gift for a friend if you're giving handmade presents this Christmas.
Thanks for reading - I'm off to cut out my next project, back soon!
Frances
